Welcoming our New DT Pratiksha Sanghani!!

Hiya!!, 

       Priya here, just popping in to introduce our new DT!!Yes we have one more addition to our Design team from Jan!!  Her style is so versatile and she gets comfortable with any style so easily! So glad, she is coming on board..Welcome Pratiksha!! Over to her!!

I'm Pratiksha from Hyderabad. I'm married to a wonderful man who has been nothing but supportive ever since i began crafting :) Its his insistence that i do something which i enjoy that has me where i stand today :) My 4 year old is my sunshine and my best critic who always says "this is beautiful mamma, verrrry pretty! :)" 

I started my craft journey over a year after i took a quilling class. While looking online for new quilling techniques, I happened upon stamping, die cutting and more! There was no looking back for me after that and quilling just didnt seem enough! I started stamping cautiously :) My buying of my BIG SHOT was the final step of the ladder :) I am now hooked to stamping, die cutting and their various techniques and products :) Altering items is my new found love. And I've discovered that I have no specific style and am extremely experiment friendly! :)

I have had a short journey into blogland with my blog being just 6 months old :) and hope to have a long crafty journey ahead! :)

Creating Faux Tile Patterns with Stamping

OLA everyone !!

Season's Greetings to all the followers. This is Charu Joshi, sharing my thoughts on some beautiful stamping techniques used for creating various Faux Tile Patterns .. This probably could be the last post on Color Coceptions for this year, and we meet in 2014. So my heartiest wishes and warm greetings for New Year 2014. May the coming year brings more happiness and success to all of us.
 
As the theme of this month was "Stamping Techniques"  I am now sure that till now all of you have enhanced and learnt many new techniques of stamping..  :P  Thanks to Priya..  :)

Today, I will share the technique of creating various Faux Tile Patterns with stamping.
 
So the First one looks like this:

 
 
To get this style, first take a 6" by 6" card stock, and put it diagonally on the score board, so that both corners are at 6" score line....  

Then scored at 6" and then + 1and 1/2" & -1and 1/2" from 6" score line.. (ie: 7 1/2", 9" & 4 1/2", 3")
Did you notice , I'm using the back side of bone folder to get deeper grooves.. See pic below:
 
Now rotate at 90deg and do the same.. You get a beautiful argile or symmetrical tile pattern. Pic below..
 

 
Now take a scrap piece of card stock and score it also at a distance of 1 1/2 " and cut at bottom to get a masking tile pattern.
 
Now keeping your masking card stock piece on the main card stock, use distress ink to create the shadow and enhance the tile pattern.. see below pictures..
 
 
 
 
Now stamp the back ground stamp on this pattern. You can see the grooves remain clear and the scored lines remain clear off the stamp..
 
 
Then, thereafter I stamped another kaisercraft floral image, colored and glossy accented.

 
Assemble all and adhere to make a beautiful card.

 
The finished card..  :) Looks like its made of Pink Tiles.  :P  :)

 
 
 
Second variation to this looks like a brick wall:
 
 
To get this pattern, First stamp the background image, color it..
 
 
Cut the image into horizontal strips of equal width..
 
 
And then cut into brick style verticle cuts..
 
Now using distress ink (vintage photo) distress the edges of each block.. I know its tideous but looks very pretty. Just like the below pic..
 
Wow !! I love this graffiti wall look on my card..  :)
 
 
 Third variation could be obtained by, stamping  and coloring the background image and cutting it into small tiles.. Now while adhering it, leave a 1-2mm gap in between the pieces..

 
 
There are many more variations that can be done and some really nice patterns can be obtained. One tip for example: Applying glossy accents on each tile will give a more real tile like look and the stamped image too looks brilliant with in-depth beauty.

Stamping on Non-Porous Surface

Hello Friends...

This is Nupur here & today I am going to show you stamping on non-porous surfaces like acetate & vellum using the new StazOn Metallic ink ...
StazOn Metallic ink comes in 4 different metallic shades : Silver, Gold, Platinum & Copper
These are solvent based quick drying inks that are specially formulated to be used on non-porous surfaces like plastic, metal, terra cotta, polymer clay, glossy cardstock and painted surfaces. 


These inkpads are not inked  & come with a 15ml reinker bottle, a small plastic spatula, a small transparent plastic lid to cover the ink pad surface & detailed instructions on how to prepare & maintain the ink pad.

1 tip to keep the ink pad from drying out is to keep the transparent lid that comes with the inkpad & replace it after every use and easier still is to use some glue dots or double sided tape & stick it on inside of the main cover so that you don't loose it & you never have to remember if you have covered the inkpad with it or not.

Now onto a little tutorial on how to stamp on acetate...
Acetate is very slick & it tends to slip & shift when you stamp on it & you get a blurred impression...
so to avoid that I used some masking tape to tape it to my cutting mat... I also used a scrap sheet of paper under the acetate to protect my work surface...
After you stamp the acetate or any other non-porous surface with StazOn ink be sure to let it dry for few minutes before handling it..
& use a StazOn All-Purpose Cleaner to clean your stamps as soon as you are done with the stamping..

Here is my finished card... I used the stamped acetate sheet as the front panel of the card & decorated it with die cut borders,pearls, glittery butterfly & some swirls..
I have made the swirls with Viva pearl pen..I love this product... It is perfect for making pearls of any size that you want & it comes in so many colours...
Then I added a die cut frame & sentiment inside the card..

Here is a close-up... The real thing looks so much better than the photographs... But sadly it is very difficult to capture its beauty on camera...



Here is another card I made with StazOn Silver Metallic ink...
This time I stamped it on vellum with Just Rite lace stamp...


Here is a close-up of the beautiful silver metallic stamping...

 Here I stamped the butterfly on vellum using StazOn Silver Metallic ink & inked it with peacock feathers distress inks when it was dry & then heat set it..

Isn't the butterfly looking gorgeous..

StazOn Metallic ink are perfect for getting clean, crisp & beautiful stamped image on Non-porous surfaces.. & while doing some research online in these inks I came across this blog which has candles stamped with StazOn Metallic ink... according to her you just ink your stamp with StazOn Metallic ink & roll the candle on the stamp... Simple isn't it..  Maybe I will give it a try soon..  :)

Hello, this is Ujjwal and I am guest designing for Color Conceptions this month. If you know me, you will know that I love stamping and I love how versatile stamps can be. You can achieve such great variety of results using stamping techniques and use a single stamp in so many different ways.

The theme here this month is stamping technique, so no doubt I am here :)

I am tackling a technique called Paper Tole today. It's an old technique not talked about often but has great potential.

It basically is an art of constructing a 3 - Dimensional image from 2 - Dimensional print by adding layers.

And here is my card using the same technique. I have used 7 layers to try and give the camera image a 3-D appearance.

Layered Stamping

Hello lovely ladies...

This is Rajni from Passionately Curious. Today it is my turn to share something.....And I am sharing a beautiful mistake that I did yesterday.
Yes ,don't get surprised...I m really sharing my mistake. Let me know who all make mistakes while trying something new....I mean who all are like me??
We all are same... Right??
but don't admit sometimes :D
Few of us also leave everything and jump onto other new things but I always try to check what mistake I have done and now what can be done to get a little better results with the same. 



Just a little revision now....this was what I shared with u all as an inspiration for the current challenge. 





 I have shared embossed resist and layered stamping.  First of all I would love to share the tutorial which I myself followed while making my inspiration card for this month's challenge.  Click here and watch how Shari Carrol uses acrylic blocks for creating wonderful backgrounds. 

Now onto my mistake card. I was in bit hurry and instead of clear embossing powder I sprinkled seafoam white embossing powder..actually got confused between their bottles......and here are the results I got.



Look at the beautiful background. Isn't it amazing !!
At the first glance i was not at all happy with the results as i wanted my background stamp to show. Got little confused...and in that confusion i tried to rub off the embossing powder with foam sander.  

Just follow these few steps...

1. I used Hero Arts news paper stamp and stamped it using black archival ink.

2. Then stamped Penny Black background stamp using Versamark and sprinkled white seafoam embossing powder. I didn't even gave a small thought that white embossing powder is opaque and most of the part won't show. I was not happy with the backgrounds as it was more of whites.
3. I gave a little rub with my sanding block and added Withered wood distress ink.
4. At last little touch up with koi brush using Peeled paint distress ink and a little rubbing with a wet tissue and it was done.



Here is another one that came in my mind.

This is just simple....yet awesome!!

Its not layered stamping.....its only heat resist on vellum. Simply stamped with versamark and heat set using white embossing powder and flowers were colored with distress inks using koi brush. It has nothing like layered stamping but still I'm excited to share with u all because I created it when I was trying to create something else.
 







 Isn't it that trying new things does not cost anything but sometimes gives big and beautiful returns. Trying new things  stirs my creativity in ways I could never have imagined. So, you all also stir your creativity and  try to learn from your mistakes. 




Sometime it  turns out and sometimes not...... it is fun!! 

Making mistakes. Sometimes laughing at my own attempts......Still trying new things. Growing and changing..... learning n living every day.... gaining confidence.
