Design Candy baskets with your stamps

Hello lovely ladies...

Hope you all had a lovely start of the year 2014 !!

Most people love and even prefer hand-made over store bought gifts and also prefer to make them more precious by giving them handmade presentations. Gift baskets are as fun to make as they are to receive. The choice of the basket or similar container can also help define the sentiment and theme.

What if I suggest  you to design your own gift baskets using stamps...??

As you all know our current challenge is on making 3 D boxes, bags , baskets or any altered or recycled gifting item. Today I'm here to inspire you with my paper candy basket using Justrite stamps. I myself got inspired  to make the same by Marisa Job's candy basket. You can also click to her blog link to see the instructions she used while making this basket. I have used Justrite Clear Stamps - Enjoy The Day and Spellbinders Vintage Labels Four die set to create the four sides of basket .The handle of the basket is made using MS vintage Doily Lace Punch and decorated with black ribbon and pearls.
The flowers are handmade with Joycrafts floral flourish.


Instructions: 
I have tried two baskets using same technique and also took same dimensions for the base but with two different stamps from same stamp set.
1. Cut a black card stock measuring 4 3/4" by 4 3/4 '' and score all sides at 1/2 an inch.
Cut extra corner.


2. Again take 1/4" on all the four sides and make a slit. Cut it diagonally. This will make the base of the basket.


3. Stamp four images with justrite - Enjoy the day stamp with deep maroon (currant) Adirondack ink and fussy cut the edges. I have cut the base of the image to give a flat look to the basket.
4. Cut four pieces using black card stock with Spellbinder's Vintage Label Four and cut the base.



5. Color all the stamped images with distress markers/inks /copics.

6. Construct the four sides of the basket by sandwiching one stamped image and one vintage label die-cut to the base of the basket using red tacky tape or with any strong glue. 




7. Lift all the sides and tie them with a ribbon bow and decorate the basket as per your choice.Here is the complete look....of both

Its Tea Time!!!

Hi All,

I have been MIA for a while and keep moving in and out thanks to my chaotic life...heheh but must say my friends here and Priya have been really nice and patient with me!

Anyways lets get going with today's post..How many of you can't do without your morning tea and coffee...for sure I cant and I as a crafter I would love to have some fancy tea holders around on my table....so here I am sharing my favourite style of tea holder!


Lets see how to make this now.....

Things needed: 1. CS
                         2. Chipboard
                         3. PP
                        4. Embellishments
                        5. Tea and Coffee Sachets to store inside





Take a CS of 6"x12" and on the long side of 12" score at 1" and on the short side of 6" score at 3-1/16", 5-3/4", 8-13/16", 11-1/2".


Now place your CS like this and from the left the second scored block horizontally score at 1-3/4 measuring from down to up...


Can you see the two score lines of the second block?



Remove the chunks as shown in the picture.


Score all the scored lines



For the lid take a CS measuring 4-1/4" x 4-5/8" and score at 3/4" from all sides



Now stick the edges to make the top lid


Get done with your matting and PP as you like it before to plan to stick up the sides to form the box...all the left over blank sides are for folding in and gluing up to form the box folder


This is a base which has a chipboard and a nice bright CS stuck on it measuring 3"x3-3/8"

This is how the box looks once the sides and bottom are done and stuck to the chipboard base to make it stable.

The Magic of the Craft Sheet

Good Morning!!
Before I begin I have a question for you all – do you all love your distress inks, stamps, paints, of course yes!! But how do you protect your work surface? A laminated sheet? A table mat? Old news papers? A cloth?
If you are one crazy person like me who  can begin & end every crafting day only with a neat, spotless work surface (my daughters think I have a OCD for cleanliness!!!) then read on because this post is just for you as it is all about the NON STICK CRAFT SHEET.

So what is this craft sheet – it is a versatile thin sheet which can be placed over your craft surface. Very convenient considering that it is thin & both the sides can be used. Being non-porous it is ideal for use with all mediums – inks, paints, pigments, mists.
Another benefit is that being heat resistant it can also be used while working with embossing powders, UTEE, craft iron, shrink plastic or even while baking polymer clay.


Take a look at these images & you will understand how & where to use this mat -


  • Inking & stamping - with all sorts of inks.....distress, chalk, archival, staz on.

The craft sheet is particularly useful when working with distress inks. For distressing you always ink the blending foam & begin on the craft sheet, in circular motions bring the ink along the paper. This results in smooth even edge & easy blending of colors as against paper. Take my word for this once you use the craft sheet for this purpose you will never work without it!

  • Its non – porous nature makes it a handy palette while painting with acrylics, distress inks/paints/stains, perfect pearls, mists, gelatos, copics, water color pencils.

  • You could squirt alcohol inks on the craft sheet & then press glossy card stock to create amazing backgrounds like Tim Holtz does!

  • Use it with mixed media products like gesso, gel medium, texture paste, etc.

  • Dyeing your ribbons, flowers,

  • It can withstand high temperature & can conveniently be used with techniques involving heating like embossing, UTEE, hot wax, MOD melts, shrink plastic. You can actually pour melted UTEE on a craft sheet & then use a cookie cutter or a rubber stamp to make a charm or even line the baking dish with the craft sheet while baking polymer clay. The hot glue gun, melting pot can all be safe kept on the sheet when in use.

  • Misting, Masking, Stencilling techniques

  • Decoupage, mod podge - being non sticky the surface can be cleaned in a jiffy.

  • Brayering - dab the colors of your choice on the craft sheet & roll the brayer along.

  • Can also be used as a surface to make pearls, glitter dots, etc.

Only be CAREFUL not to fold this sheet because it may develop cracks into which the inks & stains can then seep & stain the surface permanently.

Why is Craft Sheet MUST HAVE?

         Personally I love this craft sheet…….

  • It is not only versatile but also durable!! 
  • It also protects your work surface from accidental spills  after which it is super easy to clean –
  • Nothing sticks to it. Be it glue, clay, UTEE, EP all you need to do is use an old credit card to it scrap off without any effort. 
  • Inks, paint can easily be wiped off with a paper towel or a baby wipe.


In short this non – porous, heat resistant & non stick mat is a MUST HAVE & ideal for working with most crafting techniques.


Initially I too had second thoughts on purchasing the craft sheet considering the high price against the table mat I used earlier. But once I used it believe me it is like magic – very convenient & cleans in a jiffy!! I no longer care about stains messing my white work surface. I have used a double sided sticky tape to glue the mat on my work table. No more worries about the cost too now because THE CRAFT SHOP has its own craft sheet at less than half the price.........................yes you heard it right..............only Rs.400, so grab one soon if you do not have it.

Challenge#7 - 3B's Boxes/Bags/Baskets

This is Tanvi wishing all you lovely ladies a very Happy Crafty 2014!!! May all your crafty dreams come true :-)

Firstly thank you so much ladies for joining our Challenge last month. Winners will be announced soon so stay tuned.

At Color Conceptions we begin 2014 with a new challenge. As crafters I am sure we all began by making handmade cards, gifts, etc for friends & dear ones to add that unique & personal touch to make them feel special.  So to bring in the new year this months challenge is all about making 3B's Boxes, Bags, Baskets .You can even alter, recycle or upcycle an existing item.

Lets move onto the inspiration by the DT..............you surely will love it!

Nupur has used distress inks, Spellbinders & Justrite stamps to make this fantastic cylindrical box which opens into drawers........isn't that super?


Charu too has made a magic box like Nupur, but a variation in shape & notice how different both these boxes are! The colors are just gorgeous.


Pratiksha has coordinated the colors of distress inks, LSG sprays & embellishments so well here, don't you agree?? I super liked the sentiment from the Justrite - For all you do set.

Saumya came up with the beautiful Tea Holder!!
