3D Scene - Diorama Box Tutorial

Hello Friends,

This is Poornima. Hope you had a great festive time with friends and family. And hope you are in mood to get back to crafting. This month’s challenge is all about Creating A Scene. If you missed our DT's inspirations check out here. You can use your dies, stamps, stickers or other embellishments to create a Simple to 3d Scene.
Scene Creation might sound difficult but when you'll start you will find usage of even those things which were lying dump in your stash since ages. I think this is the best theme to pull out your all crafty supplies and figure out how you can combine and coordinate them to create a scene. We will be posting inspirations throughout this month for helping you out.

Today I am sharing a tutorial on creating a3d Scene Card. There are variety of ways to do this. I have chosen Diorama Box for the same. So let’s get started. Here's a step by step tutorial for you -

Step 1 : Cut two cardstocks of size 12” * 6”

Step 2 : On the 12” side , score at 3”, 9”. Do same scoring with other piece too. In this way you will have three sections of  3”, 6” and 3” on each cardstock.

Step 3 : Now take one cardstock and make a window in center panel.  Leave 1" borderon all sides and cut out the center area. This piece of cardstock will form the front of the Diorama Box.

Step 4 :  Now adhere pattern paper of your choice to both pieces
Front panel with window

Step 5 : Create a appropriate background on second piece. My scene is Landscape so I have created sky, cloud and sun background. I have used distress inks, MB cloud die and circle punch to do so. You can background in coming images.

Step 6 : You can attach layers directly in the box. But I have used a slit system to attach layers. The advantage of this is you can remove layers or readjust them anytime later on. To create slits take two strips of cardstock of 4” * 1 ¼” each. Leave 1/4" on both sides and score remaining strip at equal intervals. The scoring interval depends upon how many layers you want to create.

Step 7 : Now give slits on score line leaving ¼” from the bottom. Refer to below given picture. Attach these strips to back panel of the Diorama Box.

Step 8 : Glue front and back panels of Diorma’s together (created in step 1,2).

Step 9 : Glue slit strip to front panel .

Step 10 : You diorama’s structure is ready. Prepare your layers. I have used these die cuts for my scene.

Step 11: Put these layers in the slits. You can even remove these layers so that Diorama Box Card can be mailed easily. Or use glue to stick them permanently in slits.

Step 12 : Complete the scene with coordinating dies, stamps, stickers, embellishments..etc. Here are some finished pictures -
