Today I will share with you some ways to use distress paints. I had a blast playing around with the colors, they blend so well, making it really easy to create gorgeous BGs.
Following are some ways to use your paints:
- Simple stamping on CS with distress paints, perfect for a soft BG. (Dab the paint directly on the stamp......swipe with your fingers & stamp. Make sure to clean the stamp immediately............remember this paint is permanent when dry). Have also painted the edge of the CS with the dabber.
- I simply loved the effect the paint (tarnished brass) created on embossed acetate. Just add a sentiment or embellish or tie a ribbon & viola your card is ready.
- In the next tag I created a ombre effect on embossed CS by dabbing picket fence & mowed lawn paints on the CS, spritzing with water & blending with my fingers. My fingers were rather messy but I loved the result!!! I even went ahead & colored a die cut butterfly, a few strokes with a brush & a beautiful butterfly to co-ordinate the BG is ready.
- The BG for this tag is using the marbling technique. After it dried I stamped the chevron pattern by dabbing all the three colors on the stamp.
- This is again a marbled BG. The image is stamped with tarnished brass paint to get a metallic finish.
- This is another tag I loved.................marbling with distress paints, then distressing with inks (please refer to Rajni's post here to know more about distress inks) followed by stamping with distress paint. Stamping with the paint gives a nice soft hazy finish to the BG.
- Here is another tag - distress paint BG on water color paper, stamping, washi tapes...........edges distressed with the distress tool.
- In this tag I added another layer of paint over the marbled BG using a stencil. Stamped a couple of images too with ink to create multiple layers. The pretty blue ribbon is actually a seam binding ribbon colored with salty ocean paint & stamped!! Now you can coordinate the color & pattern on the ribbon with your card too!!
- Does this not look like a piece of linen with a batik print??? I loved the amazing cloth like finish on this tag................you can refer to this tutorial to create this with your distress paints.
Have a closer look at this............it is simply stunning in real.
- Used the same technique for this one also.........just stamped the same pattern over.
- Now this is yet another effect I loved on acetate............a colorful abstract BG (in my daughter's opinion this BG resembles Ganesha!! )
These are a few results of playing around with distress paints............the scope is vast. The more explore with these colors, the more ideas I get!! So go ahead grab a few colors & do share your work with us...........The Craft Shop has the entire range of these paints.
